The social media company Facebook wants more diversity in its own workplace, the company writes in a blog post. The company published a diversity report on Tuesday. In addition to the changes within the United States, the company wants to double the number of women working at Facebook worldwide in the coming years. “We are a company where in the next five years at least 50 percent of our workforce is female, non-light-skinned, disabled or veteran,” Facebook writes. In the annual diversity report, Facebook writes that currently 36.9 percent of employees are women. In 2014 this was 31 percent. Among senior positions, the number of women increased by 2.6 percentage points in the past year to 32.6 percent. Women are still considerably under-represented in technical positions. Only 23 percent of women have a technical function.
