Construction company Heijmans will have a stricter packaging policy from next year. From 2020, the company rejects as many packages as possible and a year later it only accepts packages that are 100 percent reusable. It concerns all packaging that the company receives both on its own operations and in its construction projects.

Starting this summer, Heijmans will include the new standards in all new contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. An example of a possible new requirement is that Heijmans refuses packaging that consists of several materials.

” We have already taken substantial steps by collecting waste streams separately and disposing them separately. We believe it is now time for the next step, “says Esther Donders, the director responsible for purchasing.
