The German airline Lufthansa expects 4 percent more passengers this year than last year.

According to Lufthansa chairman Carsten Spohr, there is no question of climate action by, for example, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg limiting aviation.

“We see no restraint, even the opposite,” said Spohr in an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. “The discussion about climate change does not lead to restraint. People want to fly.”

According to Spohr, the reputation of aviation is being ruined by price fighters who offer tickets at floor prices.

“They make our sector a target of criticism and hide the airspace, because it stimulates artificial demand that would not exist if realistic prices existed.”
