Due to a construction crane that jumped off the rails on early Friday morning, rail traffic between Chur and Landquart (GR) is currently impaired. The intercity trains IC 3 from Zurich HB to Chur and the S-Bahn trains S 12 between Sargans and Chur are canceled in both directions. The regional trains from Zurich HB to Chur hold extremely well in Maienfeld, while in the opposite direction no stop in Maienfeld is provided. Disruption takes longer than expected The SBB initially assumed that the disruption could be remedied during the morning. Because track parts would have to be replaced and a turnout was damaged, the repair work now dragged into the afternoon. Due to a technical disruption to the railway system, the rail connection between Bern and Olten was disrupted early Friday morning. The impairment on the Bahn 2000 route – on the Bern-Zurich connection – has meanwhile been rectified. In Chur, a crane falled out of the rails shortly after 5 o’clock during construction, after colliding with a welding wheelchair, SBB spokesman Daniele Pallecchi said. There were no people injured. The construction crane was back on the track early in the morning. One of the two tracks is still blocked, Pallecchi said. The SBB recommends travelers to consult the online timetables. Current information on the impairment are meanwhile on the SBB-fault page, link opens in a new window.
