The police reported that an unspecified number of tenants were injured and they were transferred to a hospital. The newspaper Blick reported that the fire raged in a building where several families lived. When the fire broke out, there were about twenty people in the house. Children reported among the victims of the fire. Residents of an adjoining building were evacuated during the fire, but have since returned to their home. As for now the fire brigade could not say specific about the cause of the fire. Police said it remained unclear what had sparked the fire. “A resident noticed smoke at 2:10 am in the stairwell and sounded the alarm,” the statement said, adding that dozens of firefighters, along with police, ambulances and other rescue services were immediately dispatched to the building.
