Daughter Blue Ivy (7) and twins Sir and Rumi (2) now have a starring role in the documentary Making the Gift. “I was lucky to be able to relive my own experiences with my family” Beyoncé called her new documentary Making the Gift a love letter to Africa, although it seems to be mainly an ode to her family and new album The Gift. In the documentary you can see how she goes with her husband Jay-Z and children Blue Ivy, Sir and Rumi to different countries in Africa for inspiration. “It is always an emotional experience for me to travel to this continent,” the singer explains. “It feels as if I am making a connection with my ancestors and thereby finding peace in myself,” Beyoncé continues in the docu. “I was lucky to be able to relive my own experiences with my family.” The trip yields pretty cute images of the family. Moreover, for the first time it can be seen that the young twins are talking and walking. The seven-year-old Blue has a starring role on both the album and in the documentary. Beyoncé’s daughter can be heard on the song Brown Skin Girl and the documentary shows how it all worked. According to Beyoncé, the message behind the song is “the reason that I make music.” The singer herself can be heard as Nala in The Lion King, for which she made the album The Gift.
