The Beatle tells this in an interview with the BBC. “You expect that your great love can come in at any moment, because you are so used to being there,” said the singer about the time after Linda’s death in 1998. “I cried a lot. It was almost embarrassing , but it seemed like the only thing I could do. ” Paul and Linda had been married for almost thirty years when she died of breast cancer at the age of 56. Earlier the musician lost his mother to that disease. “We had no idea what my mother had died of, she just wasn’t there anymore,” says the Brit, who was fourteen years old at the time. “The worst thing was that everyone was so stoic, and then suddenly I heard my father cry in the other room. I had never heard that, it was so tragic.” Sir Paul remarried in 2002 to Heather Mills, with whom he had daughter Beatrice. The couple divorced in 2008. Three years later, the singer got married to Nancy Shevell.
