The cartoon character comes to life in the live-action remake. Disney has just launched the new trailer. The film tells the story of Mulan infiltrating the Chinese army. As a woman she doesn’t like that at all, but when the emperor of China decides that one man per family should serve in the imperial army, Hua Mulan secretly takes the place of her sick father. In this way it helps to defend the country against invaders from the North. Masked as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested at every training and uses her inner strength to embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will turn her into a warrior and give her the respect of a grateful nation and a proud father. Mulan has an international cast with: Yifei Liu as Mulan; Donnie Yen as commander Tung; Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan; Yoson An as Cheng Honghui; with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the emperor. The film is directed by Niki Caro, the screenplay is written by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan.
