Life Downton Abbey makers are already thinking about the second film By weekster Posted on September 18, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ If it is up to the makers of costume drama Downton Abbey, there will be a sequel to the recently released film. Producer Gareth Neame tells The Hollywood Reporter. There is one condition for the Brit, also one of the driving forces behind the series of the same name: the audience must warm up for the film that is currently playing. “We already have ideas about how we want to continue with the story” “The only thing we have to achieve is that fans leave their home and visit the film, since they could always watch the series from home,” says Neame. “We have to motivate them to go to the cinema.” If the fans do that, then a sequel is probably waiting. “We already have ideas about how we want to continue with the story.” The first figures from the cinemas probably make Neame hopeful: the story about the castle of the Crowley family is full of halls. For example, in the Netherlands over 70,000 people bought a ticket in the first four shooting days. The film is also doing well in other countries. A number of the actors also hope for a sequel. Laura Carmichael, who plays the role of Lady Edith Crawley in the series, says “absolutely” to participate in a possible sequel. “It would be great to make another film.” Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, is also waiting to see how this film works. But he is open to a sequel. “If people like this movie, why shouldn’t we make a sequel?”
