In three weeks, more than 250,000 people bought a ticket for the cinema version of the popular television series. This can be seen from statistics of the Dutch film industry on Wednesday. In the film version of Downton Abbey, the noble Crawley family prepares for the arrival of the king and queen at their castle. The film is written by Julian Fellowes, the creator of the series; all original cast members, including Dame Maggie Smith, play in the film. The critics were frugal about the new film, but the fans are wildly enthusiastic. The successful series, of which the sixth season was shown on television in 2015, was awarded with three Golden Globe Awards and fifteen Emmy Awards, among others.
