Life Game of Thrones author George Martin responds to fan criticism By WeeklyNews staff Posted on July 16, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Writer George R. R. Martin does not hesitate to change anything about the book series on which the Game of Thrones series is based. He reacts with his statement to the fans’ criticism of the eighth part of the successful series. To Entertainment Weekly, Martin says he is often asked to adjust the plot of the following parts of the series. “I want to write the books that I planned to write from the beginning,” the author says in the interview. “And when they come out, people can like them or not.” It concerns the parts Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. The last part of Games of Thrones is based on that. Fans didn’t like the end of the series. Martin has nothing to do with that, he says. “I have a certain end in my head and if you let that go because someone doesn’t like it, you ruin the entire structure.” Martin also says that he found the time pressure annoying. It was originally intended that the books should be finished in December. But that deadline was paralyzing for him. “The pressure became too great and at a certain point I noticed that the work was not finished.” That pressure is now gone. He now continues to write at his leisure and wants to deliver the books as well as possible. “The series is over. I am working on the book now and when it is finished, it is finished.”
