Life Hugh Grant strongly opposes social media Posted on July 16, 2019 1 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ If it’s up to Hugh Grant, we’ll stop using social media. The actor explains this in a Variety podcast. In the episode of My Favorite Episode, the actor expresses his concern about the influence of social media. “It is frightening how technology has won over democracy,” said Hugh. “Trump never happened without Facebook manipulation, Brexit never happened without. People with enough money can manipulate floating voters nowadays.” Asked for a solution, says the 58-year-old Brit. “I would just pull the plug from social media. I look at the pluses and the minuses, and for me the minuses weigh heavier. We had great lives for social media.” The actor is still thinking of a less rigorous alternative. “The least we can do is no longer allow anonymous social media posts.”
