Life Joker movie keeps breaking record after record By weekster Posted on November 13, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ The film Joker continues to do well in Dutch cinemas. The grim ‘origin story’ of the big villain from the Batman series has been in first place on the cinema lists for six weeks and has attracted the millionth visitor on Monday evening. Distributor Warner Bros. announced on Monday. Joker is currently the third most visited cinema film in 2019. Only The Lion King (more than 3 million visitors) and Avengers: Endgame (more than one and a half million) have so far outperformed the DC Comics film. Joker film has now raised more than 900 million dollars worldwide. Especially in the US, Joker sparked another discussion about violence in films. Opponents argue that the film could incite violence. Gordon also expressed these concerns after he had left the room prematurely because he found the film too nasty. Most visitors, however, have only praise for the film, which calls for more compassion for confused people in society. Among others, director Martin Koolhoven broke a lance for Joker. The film won a Golden Lion at the Venice festival and protagonist Joaquin Phoenix is tipped by friend and foe for an Oscar.
