3 min read

Long before it became a trend in a local society Kenes Rakishev and his wife Aselle Tasmagambetova created a private charity fund. It is unknown if it was the first private charity, but it was one of the first for sure. As for now Saby is definitely the oldest and most reputable private fund in Kazakhstan, hands up. What’s more important is the modus operandi of Saby. It reflects the general approach of its president, Aselle Tasmagambetova, and the energy of Kenes Rakishev.

Most of Saby’s projects are long term and sport a systemic approach to the selected problem. Saby tries it’s best to accomplish impressive goals and present a model for the others to follow. It is definitively inherited from the Kenes Rakishev style in business.

Recent developments – the COVID-19 pandemic – demanded rapid and decisive actions. Thankfully Saby has quite an experience in the field. Kenes Rakishev and his partners managed to acquire test kits and personal protection equipment to arm Kazakhstan’s response teams and doctors. Kenes Rakishev and Aselle Tasmagambetova purchased lung ventilator for the Intensive care unit. And they established free mobile unit for people who worry about being infected with COVID.

The work is logical extension of the long term project to rebuild and equip children hospitals with state of the art surgical rooms. The experience paid double when pandemic struck the country.

Other projects of Kenes Rakishev fund Saby include help and support for orphans and socially impaired children, accessible transport for disabled people. Recently Saby showed support to some less wealthy but highly efficient charities. Charity is not about competition, Kenes Rakishev and Aselle Tasmagambetova consider.

Kenes Rakishev and his friends and partners, Aselle Tasmagambetova and all the supporters of Saby’s case are interested not only in social and educational projects. The recent initiative is aimed to save Caspian seal from extinction. It is noble case and the conservation efforts are supported by the broad society.
