Masks are forbidden during the Joker film in a cinemas

1 min read

The American cinema chain Landmark Theaters forbids masks for cinema visitors during the new movie ‘Joker’. This is because of the cinema shooter who dressed as Joker in 2012 shot twelve people in Colorado during a Batman movie. Seventy were also injured. Families of the victims wrote a letter to the cinema chain expressing their concerns about the film, which will be shown for the first time in the United States on 4 October.

“Guests are welcome to come in costume”

“Guests are welcome to come in costume, but we do not allow masks, face paint or an object that hides the face,” the chain says. Another cinema giant, AMC Theaters, introduced such a ban right after the shooting in 2012. That chain has at least 650 cinemas.

The new film Joker shows the mental collapse of the painted character. It is Batman’s archenemy in various films, television programs and comics.
