No World record for The Smartest Man in store

The Guinness Book of World Records has rejected a request to include Philip Freriks and Maarten van Rossem in the book as the world’s oldest presentation duo. That is what KRO-NCRV, the broadcaster who broadcasts their program The Smartest Man, says when asked.

Van Rossem said in an interview in the Volkskrant on Friday that the broadcaster tried to get a mention in the world-famous reference work for the possibly oldest presentation duo in the world. Van Rossem is 75 and Freriks will be 75 this month. This request was submitted last year.

However, the editors of the Guinness Book indicated that they would not investigate this and refuse the request, says a spokeswoman for KRO-NCRV. It does not exclude that the program will make another attempt in the future, if Van Rossem and Freriks are a year older.

The Smartest Man will start his fifteenth season on Monday.
