Olivia Colman had to learn to walk again for The Crown

1 min read

For the third season of the series The Crown, Olivia Colman (45) takes on the role of Queen Elizabeth, a role she takes over from Claire Foy (35) after two seasons. The Oscar winner says in an interview with the British Harper’s Bazaar that she had to empathize properly to come across as real as possible. “They even had to teach me how to walk differently, because I walk a bit of myself.”

“I thought a bit of a chic accent was good enough, but not so”

The 45-year-old actress confesses that she actually hates doing research for a role, but that she had to in this case. “I have to sit like the queen and convey her accent well. I thought a bit of a chic accent was good enough, but not so. The queen has a really different way of talking.”

When asked whether she earns as much as her opponent Tobias Menzies, who takes over Prince Philip’s role from Matt Smith, Olivia answers: “I hope so, yes! The series is not called Philip, but The Crown.”
