Rihanna has declined the Super Bowl offer

Rihanna has indeed refused to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show last February. The singer confirms this in an interview with Vogue.

“Why would I do that?”

In October of 2018, rumors emerged that Rihanna was one of the artists who had thanked for the once honorable job of performing at the American Football Final. The halftime show has become controversial because, according to many people, football association NFL is still blocking Colin Kaepernick’s return to American Football.

In 2016, the player caused a stir by kneeling while the national anthem was being played, an action that was later taken over to protest against racial inequality in America. Despite this acclaim in the sports and entertainment world, Kaepernick was subsequently no longer accepted by teams, according to the quarterback and his supporters because of his protest.

Rihanna states in the Vogue interview that for that reason she did not want to participate in the Super Bowl. “Why should I do that? Who benefits from that? Not my people,” said the musician. “I just couldn’t sell that for myself. I didn’t want to contribute to anything. There are issues at play with that organization that I don’t agree with at all, so I wasn’t going to help them in any way.”
