Sweet Child O ‘Mine achieves 1 billion views

1 min read

The clip of the Sweet Child O ‘Mine song by Guns N’ Roses has exceeded the limit of 1 billion views on YouTube. The clip is therefore the first music video from the 1980s to reach this milestone.

In the top 5 of the best-watched video clips from the 1980s, Sweet Child O ‘Mine is followed by a-ha’s Take On Me. That video has 943 million views so far. The number 3 in the list, Cyndi Lauper with Girls Just Want To Have Fun, follows with an appropriate distance of 786 million views.

It is striking that Guns N ‘Roses also has the best viewed video clip from the nineties. November Rain, however, previously achieved more than a billion views and is now at 1.2 billion. In that list, Nirvana with Smells Like Teen Spirit (968 million) and The Cranberries with Zombie (962 million) are the numbers 2 and 3.
