Life Taylor Swift candid about ‘difficult year’ By weekster Posted on November 26, 2019 4 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Taylor Swift has had a bad period. The 29-year-old singer was open about her difficult year in her thank-you speech at the American Music Awards (AMAs), where she came out as the big winner. “This year was fierce” Taylor said that the past year had “some wonderful things” in store for her. “Some are the hardest I have experienced in my life, and many of them have not been public.” The singer was recently in conflict with her old manager Scooter Braun and announced earlier this year that her mother has cancer again. Taylor’s parents, both of whom had already conquered cancer, sat in the hall on Sunday and were moved to tears by the words of their daughter. “This year was fierce. A lot was good, a lot was very complicated,” said Taylor, who thanked her fans – “the constant factor in my life” – extensively. “Thank you on behalf of me and my family for your support and care.” The singer made history by winning more American Music Awards than Michael Jackson. The King of Pop won a total of 24 AMAs, Taylor cashed in all of her five nominations on Sunday and thus achieved 29 statuettes. Among other things, she won the award for artist of the year for the fifth consecutive year and was proclaimed the favorite female artist just like last year. Not only Taylor broke records, K-Pop group BTS also entered the history books. The South Korean boy band was the first K-Pop group to win an AMA last year, this year the men received three. The 17-year-old Billie Eilish went home with the award for best newcomer of the year and is therefore one of the youngest artists ever to win that statue. Nine years ago, Justin Bieber also won the AMA for best newcomer at the age of 16. Billie also won the AMA for favorite artist alternative rock and is the first singer to win that prize. There was also a bit of Dutch success at the presentation of the AMAs. Old Town Road, the monster hit of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, won in the favorite song rap / hip hop category. The song was produced by the Dutchman YoungKio.
