2 min read

The Netflix documentary about Taylor Swift (30) premiered during the Sundance Film Festival. In the documentary ‘Miss Americana’ the singer is very candid about the difficult period in which she struggled with anorexia. “I thought it was normal that I almost fainted halfway through shows.”

“People told me I looked pregnant”

Since her breakthrough, Taylor can no longer walk without being recognized. Certainly in America, the paparazzi photographers are waiting for her everywhere. The photos that Taylor saw of herself made sure that she developed an eating disorder, she says. “Sometimes I saw pictures with a little tummy, and then people said I looked pregnant. That was a trigger for me to starve myself.”

That situation was getting worse, putting even her performances at risk. “I thought it was normal to feel like I was fainting halfway through the show. Now I realize: no, when you eat you get energy. That makes you feel stronger, then you can act and you don’t feel miserable anymore ”

Taylor is doing a lot better now, she says in an interview with Variety. In this she explains that nowadays she no longer feels attacked when someone says something about her weight. Earlier that was the case. “Then I said, what are you talking about? Of course I eat, and I exercise a lot,” I bit them. It is also true that I did a lot of sports, but I didn’t eat. ”
