The glasses have been in the hands of Alan Herring for 50 years, who was a driver for the band members in the 1960s. John Lennon gave him his glasses that were broken. “When I asked if I should have it made, John said the glasses were only meant for looks.” Other Beatle memorabilia were also auctioned, such as clothing and a Lennon toaster. A beaded necklace by George Harrison with bells attached to it, also yielded much more than estimated at just under 12,000 euros.
