Life Why The Lion King is so special for Harry and Meghan Markle? Posted on July 16, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were at the British premiere of The Lion King. And that was not without reason. The two have a shared passion for the Disney classic, Entertainment Tonight reports. The Lion King was in the hearts of many in 1994, including Prince Harry and Meghan. Entertainment Tonight spoke with royalty expert Katie Nicholl, who explained why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so fond of the Disney classic. “The musical was very special for the couple. They had one of their first dates there,” she explains. “Harry has seen the animation film about twenty times, he says. Moreover, Elton sang John during their wedding Circle of Life.” The couple was also present at the premiere of the new version of the film. According to the royalty expert, Meghan would be the last to “choose” what outings she’s doing, just like going to Wimbledon to support her friend Serena Williams. The former actress is officially still on maternity leave. “It is a pleasant surprise for fans of the royal family to see so much of Meghan. We did not expect that,” Katie explains. “These are not official work obligations,” the royalty expert continues. “I think she is, as I was told by a palace man from the palace, at a handful of events that she really wants to do. That’s how she wants to support Harry, but doesn’t expect she will be fully back soon.” Meghan’s maternity leave officially lasts until September, so from then on she will be present at all events at the Brite royal family.
