Grease is transformed into a series By weekster Posted on October 16, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Streaming service HBO is working on a new spin-off series based on the hit film Grease from 1978. The Hollywood Reporter reports. Earlier it was announced that a cinema prequel is also being made, which tells the story in plotting the world before the world famous film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Grease talks about Sandy and Danny, who meet each other on holiday and fall in love. When Sandy moves and ends up at the same school as Danny, he turns out to be a very different boy than he seemed to be in the summer months. The pair goes to Rydell High in the original; that will also be the title of the new series. Some characters from the film will also return in Rydell High. The musical series is set in the fifties, but will also address serious modern teenage themes such as group pressure, puberty in Puritan America and ‘coming of age’. It is not yet known who will write the series, who will play the lead roles or when Rydell High will be shown. Earlier the producer of Rydell High already made a much-praised registration of a theater concert of the ‘old’ Grease. Although the film was released more than 40 years ago, Grease is still popular. Below you can see why.
