Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ US President Donald Trump has emphasized that he can impose even more import duties on China if he so wishes. He previously promised not to do so after reaching a ceasefire in the trade war with the Asian country. “We still have a long way to go with regard to import duties with China. If we want, we can impose a further $ 325 billion in Chinese goods rates,” Trump said. “We are talking with China about a deal, but I would rather look if they had not broken the deal we already had.” China said that new import duties would not benefit the negotiations. “That would make the road to an agreement longer,” said a Foreign Ministry spokesperson. “China still hopes that trade tensions can be resolved with dialogue.”
