The new measure will take effect in the United States in the fall, reports operational director Sheryl Sandberg in a blog. It is one of the measures taken by the social medium to prevent interference in elections from abroad. In 2016 Russia tried to influence the results of the American elections. The new policy has not yet been worked out in detail, says Sandberg. Facebook is currently requesting advice from voting organizations.
