Science&Tech Facebook photos will be easier to share with Google Photos next year Posted on December 3, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Starting next year, Swiss Facebook users can transfer photos and videos from Facebook to Google Photos. Facebook will announce that on Monday. The service is currently available in Ireland. By giving users the option to export their Facebook photos to Google Photos, Facebook wants to ensure more openness of online platforms. The service is part of the Data Transfer Project. This allows users to move their data to other platforms. The service will be extended to the rest of the world at the beginning of 2020. Facebook also plans to make other data transferable in the coming months. This concerns, for example, e-mails, calendar appointments and contacts. More control for users The Data Transfer Project was set up in 2018 with the aim of giving users more control over their data. The project is a collaboration between Apple, Google, Microsoft, Twitter and Facebook to make the transfer of data easier between online services. Thanks to the system, users do not have to download their data at one service and then upload it again at the other service. Instead everything is arranged centrally, which should ensure more user-friendliness.
