The South Korean megacorp LG is going to equip its upcoming G8 ThinQ with an OLED screen that also works as an audio amplifier, announces the company on Thursday via its website.

With the technology, the screen of the smartphone is equipped with a converter that converts mechanical vibrations into sound.

LG promises that the G8 ThinQ stereo sound can be heard by using both the speakers at the bottom of the smartphone and the top of the screen.

It is not the first time that LG has used the technology for audio. In January the company demonstrated the technology in a TV screen.

LG presents its G8 ThinQ on February 24 at the smartphone fair MWC in Barcelona. Earlier in February, the South Korean company already announced that the smartphone is equipped with a 3D sensor.
