It is not known exactly how often Word has been downloaded on Android devices. The Play Store page always rounds that number and is now “1,000,000,000+”. Other Microsoft apps also work well on Android devices. For example, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and OneDrive each have more than 500 million installations. E-mail app Outlook has more than 100 million installations. It is not clear whether people have installed the apps from the Play Store. Gates said that besides Apple’s iOS, there was only room for one other competitor. Microsoft’s Office apps have been available on Android and iOS for a few years.
