Cinema operator Pathé is introducing 4DX Rewind this week, giving top films from recent years an extra ‘fourth dimension’. This includes films such as Interstellar, Mad Max: Fury Road and Guardians of the Galaxy that are shown for the first time in a special ‘experience cinema’. Pathé will play an old title in the 4DX rooms every other week; the first release is from September 13. The films are shot exclusively on Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings and Monday evenings in the seven Pathé 4DX cinemas. In these types of halls, chairs ‘move’ with the film. There are also light, air and water effects built into the room that contribute to a lifelike cinema experience. Since the opening of the first room, more than 720,000 tickets have been purchased for the special cinema rooms.
