Ericsson, the maker of network equipment, significantly boosted sales in Q2. The Swedish company performed well in North America and Northeast Asia in particular. Ericsson also recorded a profit, where a loss was suffered in the same period last year.

Sales grew 10 percent to 54.8 billion Swedish krona, around 5.2 billion euros. The profit of the competitor of the Chinese Huawei came to 1.8 billion krona. The loss amounted to the same amount last year.

CEO Börje Ekholm indicates that the sales of equipment for 5G networks are increasing strongly. Those faster networks must be built everywhere in the coming years. A great deal is also being invested in equipment for 4G networks, the current standard.
