The French government is about to complete its plan to provide Air France with new capital influx. The capital injection of several billions of euros may be announced in the coming days, reports Bloomberg on the basis of insiders. First, the European Commission and the board of Air France-KLM have yet to agree. Air France and French government spokesmen refused to respond to Bloomberg. Earlier this week, the French business daily Les Echos, the French government and the European Commission reached an agreement had been reached with the concessions made by Air France, in return for the additional state aid. France and the Netherlands, both of which have a 14% stake in Air France-KLM, previously came to the aid of the airline combination with EUR 10.4 billion in loans and loan guarantees. The company is due to the ongoing travel restrictions against corona and still have more money than you make, so it is, according to a senior now, especially in the new capital, so that the debt does not continue to rise. French and Dutch government officials previously considered it likely that Air France-KLM would need additional support. The national airlines are seen as strategically important companies for the Dutch and French economies. In return for new aid, Brussels would demand that Air France relinquish part of its so – called slots, i.e. coveted airport take-off and landing rights. Last year, the German company Lufthansa had to dispose of 24 slots at Munich and Frankfurt airports because of the multi-billion-dollar aid it received.
