The German aviation group Lufthansa is reducing its range of air travel by half in the coming weeks. The demand for tickets has fallen so fast because of the new corona virus that this intervention is needed to mitigate the financial damage.

The halving of flight capacity comes on top of the measures that Lufthansa had already taken due to the worldwide virus outbreak. For example, the aviation group recently announced a vacancy stop. Lufthansa and subsidiaries would also operate fewer flights over medium distances. Lufthansa states that the virus is so widespread that it is now affecting all markets.
