Producer prices in Germany increased by 0.8 percent in January compared to the previous month. The German Federal Statistical Office reported it.

Economists generally expected an increase of 0.1 percent. In December, the prices charged by German manufacturers for their products went up by 0.1 percent.

On an annual basis, producer prices increased by 0.2 percent in January, after a decrease of 0.2 percent a month earlier.

Consumer confidence in Germany has declined slightly. Research agency GfK reported that. The index representing consumer confidence in Europe’s largest economy was 9.8 against an earlier level of 9.9.

The figures correspond to the average expectation of economists. The indicator is based on research among around 2000 respondents and looks one month ahead, in this case to March.
