NorthC Group continues its expansion in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) with the acquisition of a data center in Winterthur (near Zurich). With this acquisition, the number of NorthC data centers in Switzerland reaches four, following the takeover of three data centers from Netrics in April 2022.

This acquisition is a further step in NorthC’s growth strategy for the Benelux and the DACH region, after the company initiated its international expansion in September 2021 with the acquisition of two data centers in Germany. NorthC also continues to expand in the Netherlands, including the construction of a second data center in Eindhoven, scheduled to become operational in the autumn of 2024.

Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC Group, stated: “This will be the 17th NorthC data center, located in a key growth market in Switzerland: the Zurich region. As with our other data centers in the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, we will build an ecosystem of regional IT partners in the Zurich region to support local companies in their digital transformation.”

Kyndryl Switzerland GmbH, a part of Kyndryl Group, one of the world’s largest providers of ICT infrastructure services, has signed a Managed Service Agreement for co-location services in the Winterthur data center. Kyndryl will become NorthC’s first customer in this data center. Additionally, NorthC will open the Winterthur data center to other customers in the region.

The Winterthur data center serves as a crucial hub for data communication in the region. NorthC will also connect this data center with the three other NorthC data centers in Switzerland, located in Munichstein (Basel region) and Biel (Bern region).
