Chip manufacturer Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) posted higher sales in June. Compared with May, revenues increased by 6.8 percent to nearly 86 billion Taiwan dollars, equivalent to 2.5 billion euros. Sales increased by almost 22 percent compared to a year earlier. In the first six months of this year, a turnover of just under 460 billion Taiwanese dollars was achieved. That is a decrease of 4.5 percent compared to the first half of 2018. TSMC is one of the world’s largest producers of smartphone chips for companies such as Apple, Samsung and Huawei and is an important customer of the Dutch chip machine manufacturer ASML.
