A-ha releases new version of the 80s hit Take On Me

The Norwegian trio A-ha has released a new version of the video with which they conquered the music world in 1985.

The number 1 hit Take On Me was accompanied by a clip, directed by Steve Barron, in which pencil animations were interspersed with lifelike action scenes. The appealing song was turned gray on MTV, the music channel of the 80s. In the meantime, the video has been viewed almost 1 billion times on YouTube.

The original 35mm film material has now been edited. The new video in 4K is sharper and more lively than the 1985 version. This is evident from a short video in which A-ha shows both versions side by side.

If Take On Me attracted more than a billion viewers on YouTube, it would be the first pop video from the 80s to set that record and, moreover, the first video with a European act.
