The small Balkan country has been shocked by the most severe quake in decades, resulting in much damage and panic. According to local media, most of the victims were only slightly injured. According to the authorities, the most powerful earthquake on Saturday afternoon was 5.8. According to the Ministry of Defense, it was about the “worst quake in twenty or thirty years”. Startled residents flocked to the streets, including in the capital Tirana. Two other quakes had a force of 5.1 and 4.7. The earthquakes were felt in neighboring countries Montenegro and Northern Macedonia, among other places. The Albanians also did not get any rest at night. A heavy quake followed after midnight. According to the first reports, it had a power of 4.8. The authorities in the country with a population of around 3 million say that at least 293 homes have been damaged. Rubble also fell on cars. The number of injured was adjusted late to 108 on Saturday evening.
