The authorities initially announced that the victim had been injured, but that turned out to be not so bad. News channel BFM TV, which relies on a source within the police, reports that the perpetrator attacked the occupants of a police car. The attacker opened a car door and started stabbing. One of the officers in the car would then have opened fire. The perpetrator is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries and has been transferred to the hospital. According to BFM TV, he had Algerian nationality and would not have been known to the police. His motive is unknown. The French police are more often the target of such attacks.
