Bob Iger hands over the baton to Bob Chapek, who has been managing the Disney theme parks and the company’s merchandise department in recent years. Iger was the highest boss at Disney since 2005. Under his reign, Lucasfilm, among other things, was acquired, giving Disney the rights to the Star Wars franchise and Indiana Jones. Iger is also the big man behind incorporating the 21st Century Fox entertainment branch, involving tens of billions of dollars. According to the departing top man, it is now a suitable time to transfer the leadership. Iger will, however, remain in office until 2021. His successor Chapek becomes the seventh CEO (CEO) in the history of Disney. He once studied microbiology and later business administration, and has been working for the company for years. He previously worked in the advertising world.
