His first album, Slaaptekort, became a success two years later. His new album will be released this fall. “With this deal, Sony Music shows how confident they are in my music,” said the rapper. “I really appreciate that. I’m ready to take the next step in my career with Sony.” Boef also shows on Instagram how he proud of this step: “Officially the richest rapper in the Netherlands. Thanks to Sony and this deal.” Negative attention Sony praises Boef as “a pioneer, as an artist but certainly also as a musical entrepreneur”. The rapper has often made a negative impression on the media in recent years. For example, he was evicted from his home in November 2016, and in 2017 he received community service and a fine for insulting agents. There was also commotion when in early 2018 Boef called two women ‘kechs’ (whores) in a vlog. A number of performances were canceled because of these statements. In January 2019 Boef had to appear in court for a large number of fines for speeding.
