It was the first time that the 72-year-old singer had a chance to win an Oscar with his regular musical partner, copywriter Bernie Taupin. Elton John received three nominations in 1995 for all his work on the mega hit The Lion King. In the end he won the statue for the song ‘Can you feel the love tonight’. The other films nominated in the best song category are Breakthrough (Dianne Warren), Frozen II, Harriet and Toy Story 4 (Randy Newman).
