According to Deadline, the bar in the American city of New York was able to stay open through discussions with the landlord. Neir’s Tavern was a prominent location in the iconic gangster movie Goodfella’s. In the film, Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta discuss the robbery on a Lufthansa aircraft in which millions of euros in cash and jewelery lay. Neir’s Tavern was also the first location where actress and singer Mae West had a performance. The landlord decided in recent years to raise the rent firmly, so that the owner of the bar could no longer pay. Where the owner first paid $ 1100 a month, he was suddenly asked to cough up $ 5400. The bar, one of the oldest that still exists in New York, was saved by local politicians. They talked to the landlord who agreed to a compromise. Film fans and a drink can still take a look in the historic building in the coming period.
