And in his very last episode he finally clarifies his exit. He did this on the basis of four letters to important people in his life: his wife Jo, Meredith Gray, Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber. The reason for Alex’s farewell is shocking. He decided to move to Kansas, where he reunited with his ex-wife Izzie Stevens and their five-year-old twins. “This has never been the way I wanted to do this. But you know me, I always choose the easy way,” the doctor explains in his letter to Meredith. “That one perfect thing is not in Seattle. No more. I swear it’s not you, work or Jo. It’s about me. I left and I’m with Izzie.” He then reveals the birth of his twins with his ex-wife.
