The Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen has already won several prizes. In Cannes, for example, he already received the prize for best actor. He can add a new award to it, but one that is different than usual. Mikkelson is nominated for a role in a game.

Mikkelsen plays an important supporting role in the groundbreaking game Death Stranding, which was recently released. The game looks like a movie in terms of storyline. Like the character Sam Bridges, the player must try to help the survivors in a world after a devastating disaster. He is attacked by all kinds of invisible spirits. One is played by Mikkelsen.

For that role, Mikkelsen is now nominated for a Game Award, just like actor Norman Reedus, who plays the role of Bridges. The other contenders in that category are Courtney Hope (role of Jesse Faden in the game Control), Laura Bailey (Kait Diaz in the game Gears 5), Matthew Porretta (Casper Darling in the game Control) and Ashly Burch (Parvati Holcomb in the game The Outer Worlds).

For Mikkelsen it is not the first role in a game. It was previously featured in 007: Quantum of Solace, which is based on the James Bond movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. He also played the lead in the Hannibal TV series and in the films Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Casino Royale.
