Life Meghan Markle demanded freckles on her photo for the British Vogue Posted on July 29, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, had one requirement for the cover of “her” Vogue. Prince Harry’s wife, who was at the helm of the September issue, wanted to see freckles. “The duchess’s instructions were clear: I want to see freckles!”, Says photographer Peter Lindbergh on the website of the British Vogue about his collaboration with Meghan. The Duchess said earlier that she thinks it is terrible if her freckles disappear during photo shopping. Showing freckles was no problem for Lindbergh, who made the famous black-and-white Vogue cover with natural super models in January 1990. “I love freckles!” Meghan already started ‘her’ Vogue when she was still pregnant, editor-in-chief Edward Enninful explains. The duchess was already sitting with him in January to discuss the September issue, the most important edition of the year. The duchess was still expecting her first child, son Archie was born in early May. “From the start we talked about the cover, whether she should be on it or not,” says Enninful. Meghan himself chose not to pose for Vogue, because that might seem “boastful”. Instead, the Duchess of Sussex focuses the spotlight on 15 women she admires. The sixteenth box on the cover stands in front of a mirror, an idea from Meghan, with which she wants to encourage readers to bring out the best in themselves.
