Miss South Africa thereby defeated 90 other candidates and left Miss Puerto Rico as 2nd and Miss Mexico as 3rd. People reports this. The 26-year-old Tunzi is a PR professional and activist, who uses her platform to fight against gender-based violence. She is also committed to natural beauty and encourages women to love themselves as they are. A notable candidate this year was Miss Myanmar, named Swe Zin Htet, who is the first openly lesbian participant in the election. The 21-year-old Htet consciously came out with it around the Miss election. “When I say I am a lesbian, it has a major impact on the LGBTQ community in Burma,” said Htet, who stated that homosexuality is still punishable in her country.
