Life Natalie Portman receives fierce criticism of outfit at Oscars Posted on February 11, 2020 1 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Natalie Portman (38) is under attack because of the special cape she wore at the Oscar ceremony. The actress from Star Wars, Léon and Black Swan had a Dior cape containing the names of female directors who were not nominated for the Oscars this year. The Academy was under fire again due to the absence of female nominees. But on social media, many fans noted that in practice Portman makes little effort to get women in the director’s chair. In her long career she has only worked twice with a female director. And since 2007, when the company was founded, its production company has never made a film with a woman other than Natalie herself. Portman has not yet responded to the criticism. The names in her cape were Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) and Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers). According to experts, these films should not have been out of place in the list of nominated directors.
