Life Sinéad O’Connor: “Prince wanted to beat me up” Posted on September 17, 2019 2 min read Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ She is known to the general public with her cover of Prince’s song Nothing Compares 2 U, but Sinéad O’Conner did not have a good relationship with the singer himself. She announced this on Monday in the morning show Good Morning Britain. According to Sinéad, Prince tried to beat her up once. In the morning show, the singer told that she was once summoned to come to Prince’s house because he would not be happy that she was not a protégé of him. “He wanted me to become a protégé of him and I would no longer curse in interviews,” says Sinéad. “But Irish are cursing all the time, so I told him where he could go with his proposal and then he attacked me.” The singer then tells how Prince, who died in April 2016, then chased her through his house and attacked her with a “cushion that contained something hard”. The pursuit, all the way to the highway, came to an end when Sinéad arrived at another house for help. According to the singer, drugs were the cause of Prince’s rage. “He was really suffering from heavy drugs at the time.”
