Studio Paramount announced earlier today that the planned release of the film was canceled in late June due to the corona virus. The sequel is now out on December 23. “I know a lot of you have been waiting for this for 34 years,” Tom writes of the movie, the 1986 sequel to Top Gun from 1986. “Unfortunately, it will take a little longer now. But Top Gun: Maverick will be airing in December Keep yourself safe, everyone. ” Top Gun: Maverick is the latest on a long list of films that have been premiere postponed with cinemas closed in much of the world. However, the sequel was previously delayed: ‘Maverick’ would actually be released in July of 2019, but the recordings of the airplane scenes had more feet than expected, so the premiere was postponed.
